Listen Up #2

On Thursday, Julie Byrne released a new single entitled “Natural Blue,” a beautifully written artistic piece with calming instrumentals, brought together by Byrne’s deep voice.

In “Natural Blue,” Byrne sings of small towns and endless fields in the south, all under a cloudless blue sky. The song is unusual because her words and the music evoke powerfully vivid images of farmland and blue sky and sun glinting through a car window.

Childish Gambino also released a new single titled “Redbone,” not to be confused with the ’80s band of the same name. The combination of smooth electronic infused instrumentals and funky vocals make a fun, enjoyable and mellow hip-hop track.

On top of these great new singles, acclaimed metal band, Metallica, dropped their newest album, “Hardwired to Self-Destruct,” on Nov. 18. The album’s 12 songs are full of guitar riffs and heavy bass that remind fans of their earlier work, while still managing to stay relevant in today’s metal scene. Even though the band members are in their 50’s, they still deliver a thrashing, energized performance.
