The Greatest Quote

“Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It’s not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything.” – Muhammad Ali

This is one of my favorite quotes because I totally agree with Ali. I believe that friendship is the most important thing in the world. Without friends in life, what do we really have? Sure, we probably all have items that are valuable to us, but nothing is as valuable as a good friend.

Friendship can help you get jobs, can help you get through school and can help you get through some of the toughest moments in life. Most importantly, friendship is the most enjoyable thing in the world. Think about your best memories, I know my friends are in all of those memories. You do learn many, many things in school: how to read, write, add, subtract and subjects such as geology and geography. These things are important in life and without the ability to read and write life would be very different, but none are important as friendship. Ali is right, whether you’re a high school dropout or have two Master degrees from Harvard, if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship you really haven’t learned anything. I could tell you the definition of friendship, but I would be wasting your time. Friendship is so hard to explain because there is nothing like it, it’s something you have to experience.

Muhammad Ali is considered by many to be the greatest boxer ever. He had a brash personality and many would say he was arrogant. When people think about Muhammad Ali quotes they probably think about him calling Joe Frazier ugly or talking about how he was the greatest. While it was entertaining to hear Ali boast about how great he was this was by far his greatest quote.
