Humans of P-CEP: Christiian Leach
Christiian Leach
Christiian Leach is a junior at Salem High School and a creative ball of energy ready to show the world what he can do. His passion lies in music, photography, film making and designing clothes. Leach and his twin brother, Kristopher, began creating and writing music in middle school and haven’t stopped since.
Music is where the majority of his inspiration comes from. It started when his brother showed him a music video by Tyler, The Creator. It initiated his love for music and his dream to create anything he could. It was the basis of his imagination. Tyler became one of his role models as he made music, clothes, directed short films and is a photographer, every area on which Leach wanted to thrive in.
“The idea that creativity defines my personality is an understatement, to the point where I am lost without it. While my personality continues to boil, everything I pursue goes through my creative process. My creativity now makes me question and contemplate anything that’s tossed in my general direction,” said Leach.
Leach’s mother, Debra, influenced him greatly. He describes her as crafty, that she’s constantly doing little DIY crafts around the house and always behind any special event creating every decoration on her own. That slowly led to him starting to create individual projects himself based off his interests. Debra has been a very large influence in his creativity and ambitions.
Isabella Quiroz, Salem junior, said, “He’s a kind friend who always has new and creative ideas for any situation.”
One of his fears is being average. Whenever he would talk about becoming famous for his art, others would just shut him down. He was labeled as a dreamer and was targeted by his peers. Instead of being taken down by what they said he took it as a compliment and worked even harder to achieve his dream. His creativity became his future, it could be anything he wished and could create anything he wanted.
Leach said, “Creativity is oxygen, needed to sustain life. Without it, how can we truly stay conscious or relevant? It gives our lives worth, creativity is an absolute necessity. Without oxygen, in reality, we cannot experience life. In my head without creativity we are not human.”
