Over 1,200 eighth graders attended a field trip to the Gloria Logan Auditorium at Salem High School on Feb. 5 to explore and observe performances in the Visual and Performing Arts Department classes P-CEP offers at the Collage Concert, a program that returns after a 10-year absence.
Amy Willacker-Brown, Plymouth assistant principal and head of VAPA, sees the event as a way to make curriculum options apparent to all prospective students. “It’s really important to us that every eighth grader has knowledge of and the ability to choose to be involved in the arts, and if we offer something during the school day, then we can guarantee that every kid, regardless of transportation changes or whether or not their families are already involved in the arts, gets a chance to see what it’s like and know more about it so that they can make informed choices when they pick their classes.”
