It’s love… but not quite.

On one extremely cold midwinter night, when the Northern Lights will surely shine, the citizens of Almost, not quite organized enough to be a real town, experience a change of heart. In nine loosely connected stories, each with a likely or completely unlikely pair at its center; relationships begin, end or completely change before your eyes.

Muhammad Anwar, freshman at Wayne State University and Canton alumni, said, “The show is very interesting, because it presents many disconnected scenes that are tied together by the town where they live, but throughout the show, hints are dropped that all the characters do in fact, know each other.”

Morgan Gagnon, Plymouth junior and “Marci” in the show, said, “‘Almost, Maine’ is a series of vignettes involving different couples that all take place in one setting, the town of Almost, Maine. We follow through their own unique issues and laugh and cry along with them as their problems escalate or resolve.” Gagnon continued, “The best part of the show is experiencing the audience’s reactions. I had never realized what a great show we had until the audience started to laugh and react to the different parts of the scenes. It’s a really great feeling to know the audience is enjoying and appreciating the hard work the cast put into it.”

Written by John Cariani and directed by Shannon McNutt, ‘Almost, Maine’ “is a show well done, with a beautiful set and wonderful actors, who pull off their characters truthfully,” said Anwar.

Though the performances on Dec. 9 and 10 are already over, you haven’t missed your chance to see ‘Almost, Maine’ on stage quite yet. There are two more performances in Canton High School’s Allen DuBois Little Theatre on Dec. 16 and 17 at 7 p.m.

David Garvey, Salem sophomore, said, “It is a powerful show. There are parts where you don’t know whether to laugh or to cry… the combination of great actors and a great script makes for a fun, moving night.”

Gagnan said, “I would suggest that people see the show because there really is something for everyone. The characters are realistic, and the show is clever, witty and fun. Come join us for a fantastic evening.”
