Sam Schikora, Plymouth senior and stage manager, said, “Blithe Spirit is a witty, entertaining show about an author being haunted by his ex-wife after a séance gone wrong.”

Set in 1945 and written by Noel Coward, novelist Charles Condomine (Dalton Barthold, Canton sophomore) invites Medium Madame Arcati (Amber Mero, Salem sophomore) to his house to conduct a séance in order to collect material for his upcoming book. Much to his dismay, after Madame Arcati takes her leave, his ex-wife Elvira (Joie Carter, Salem sophomore) appears… but only to him.

“The best part is anytime Elvira shows up, because only Charles can see her. It’s really funny because the rest of the characters think he’s just talking to thin air,” said Jaclyn Billingsly, senior at Plymouth. “I play Charles’ current wife, so all kinds of drama unfolds. It’s just really fun, funny and interesting, with some spooky elements!”

Put together by the Park Players Theatre Company and directed by Paul Bird, the cast of “Blithe Spirit” has been rehearsing for the show five days a week since Oct. 3.

“The show was so well put together from the sound, to the lights, to the production itself,” said Matt Haddad, Canton senior. “My favorite part was probably the surprise twist ending. I wasn’t expecting it, and it was one of the funniest parts of the show.”

Billingsly commented, “People should come see the show because everyone has worked really hard on it and put in a lot of effort, and the show is full of talented people. It’s really entertaining!”

Schikora agreed, “People need to come see it because there are so many funny lines and moments that happen when you’re not expecting them.”

The show opened Nov. 11 and also had a performance Nov. 12. But don’t worry; you haven’t missed it yet! Make sure to come see the final performances of “Blithe Spirit” on Nov. 18 and 19, at 7 p.m. at the Gloria Logan Auditorium in Salem High School.
