Eryn Allen Kane Returns to Detroit

Raised on the East Side of Detroit, this powerhouse singer comes in a small package. Eryn Allen Kane has impressed the likes of Prince with her strong, soulful voice, as well as performed with him. In addition, she has performed with artists such as Chance the Rapper and lesser known rapper Saba.
On Nov. 23 Kane hosted her first hometown concert for her most recent album “Aviary: Act II.” The concert, which took place in the Masonic Temple, was more so a small, intimate gathering than a concert. With a crowd of approximately 200 people, half being her friends and family, it felt as though I was going to watch an old friend perform. She came on stage with a fiery passion much like that of Chaka Khan to perform “Bass Song” from her first album “Aviary: Act I.”
Kane went on to perform seven songs from her past two albums, each with more spirit than the last. An hour later, the crowd requested an encore right before Kane left the stage. She sang one of her most beloved songs, “Have Mercy,” bringing a few in the audience to tears, and she performed the Ray Charles’ classic, “Hit the Road Jack.”

I felt as if Kane gave one of the most personable and intimate concerts. I am excited to see what she has in store for the next few years as she continues to grow her fan base.
