Focus Detroit

Focus Detroit is an organization with a mission to help kids who are living in poverty. Along with helping them succeed, it’s also meant to create more interaction with people in the city and find ways to help make life better for them. The organization was founded by Eric Shanburn in 2009, but officially started in Detroit in 2015. Shanburn was originally going to become a priest, but with influence from his Christian beliefs and his job as a social worker, he knew this was the path he needed to take.

“I made this to educate, create opportunities, connect to faith and have the opportunity to serve; our big purpose is connecting communities with kids in need,” says Shanburn.

Focus Detroit has been growing more each year, as an increasing number of people want to be involved. People are either constantly volunteering or even helping part time. Many helping hands come from schools and churches.

There is a Facebook page and a program page (links at the bottom) to get more information or find ways to also get involved. These pages can also help you contact Eric Shanburn himself through number and email.
