On the evening of Feb. 21, Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (P-CCS) announced the closing of schools and programs for the following Wednesday.

“Due to the anticipated impactful winter weather that has been forecasted in the early afternoon that may make for hazardous icy roads, Plymouth-Canton Community Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, February 22,” the department announced in a statement. “All schools will be closed and all afternoon and evening activities, including athletics and Community Education programs, are canceled for Wednesday, February 22. Thank you so much for your continued support of P-CCS and stay safe!”

“Winter Storm Olive,” is forecasted to impact “the Rockies, Plains and the upper Midwest” and into the Great Lakes, reported The Weather Channel in “Historic Winter Storm.” “An ice threat” is forecasted to impact Michigan and its surrounding states.

“Totals of a quarter to a half an inch are going to be possible, which will be extremely hazardous for drivers. Travel is strongly discouraged, as you can imagine, and the weight of the ice could also lead to potential tree damage and power outages,” The Weather Channel reported.

Freezing rain is forecasted to transition to sleet late into Wednesday night in southeast Michigan.
