Sophia Nicholas was in diapers when she began doing the splits, so it is no wonder the junior now uses the skills from her dance class-filled childhood on the Canton Varsity Pompon team. When sports get a little too hectic, Sophia is happy to get some quiet time writing poems and painting pictures. Memories of picking wild berries on her dad’s property and finding deer tracks in the mud with her family make the junior want to protect nature through environmental engineering. Sophia hopes to find a place for her more artistic hobbies alongside a science-based career in her adult life.
